Aleem RAMANKHAN, MSc, FCCA

Aleem is the co-founding partner of Barnes Associates. Prior to this, he was the audit partner at Baker Tilly (Mauritius) for 11 years. Aleem has studied and worked in London where he qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant and also obtained a masters degree in Financial Management from the
Middlesex University.

Aleem has worked for international accounting firms, specializing in auditing, accounting and consultancy services for a well diversified client portfolio in sectors such as garments and textiles, wholesale and retail, manufacturing, property development, trade finance, banks and financial institutions, telecommunications and hotels.

On his return to Mauritius, Aleem worked as a manager for six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he specialized in the audit of large global business companies, most of which are blue chip companies quoted on stock exchanges around the world.

Aleem was a former member of the Financial Reporting Council of Mauritius Audit Review Panel and lectures regularly on Corporate Governance and International Standards on Auditing.

Muhammad Rushdee TOORBUTH, FCCA,FCIPA

Profile and Experience

Rushdee is the co-founding partner of Barnes Associates. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He is also an Certified Islamic Professional Accountant from the globally recognised institution AAIOFI.

Rushdee has 11 years of work experience in the Accounting, Auditing & Advisory field with over 100
assignments in financial, internal and system audit in general, but also evaluation of development projects financed by international institutions/donors in particular (World Bank) and the European Union after working at KPMG & Grant Thornton.

He started his career at Baker Tilly (Mauritius) in 2008 where he qualified as ACCA after 4 years of experience. He became a Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) graduate in March 2015 from the globally recognised institution AAIOFI. While he was at Grant Thornton (Advisory Services) Ltd, he lead the Internal Audit department for a year. Then, he re-joined Baker Tilly (Mauritius) in September 2016 as Manager in charge of the Advisory department.
